Hello jwolfskin,I did install office 2003 no servicepack.about the windows xp i am not sure if it had only sp1 or also sp2.all i know for sure is that it worked with office 2003 installed.I'll check it out with an windows XP no SP's and no Office. (it should not work)i'll then install SP1 and try again without office. (it still should not work)then i will install SP2 and try again.
(it maybe can work, but i suspect that it still will fail installation because of the office missing.)I also think that it doens't really matter if you use office xp or 2003 but i haven't tested it. HelloI had the same error when adding features to VS 2005 on Windows 7.As this is not the first error that appears in the install log there may be probably different causes that lead to this error and you may find different solutions from other people.First of all:I was adding a new feature to an already installed VS2005.Therefore it is important to copy the install files into the SAME folder location from which you made the original installation.

(For me installing directly from DVD did not work)Second:I found the final solution in an MSDN article: I deleted all files in C:WindowsTemp and then it worked. (There was a lot of stuff)I want to say many thanks to Microsoft that they write so nice installers that are unable to display intelligent error messages and that are too stupid to delete some Temp files. The VS 2005 installer is a shame. I wasted half a weekend with solving this.
